    1. Sintering Theory

    Silicon carbide beam is mainly used in the production of aluminum, copper and zinc , as the lining material of the molten pool and electrolytic bath (reduction bath).The side lining of the reduction bath is eroding by aluminum and cryolite (used as additive), but Si3N4 bonded SiC material could not be eroded by aluminum, and do not have chemical reaction with cryolite.So this kind of material is ideal for the lining bricks of the electrolytic bath.In particular this kind of bricks have the excellent properties of high strength, abrasive resistance and nonconductive, so the copolymer (Al2O3 and Cryolite). The copolymer likes protective film to protect the working lining and improve the service life of electrolytic bath of silicon carbide pipe.

    Reaction bonded SiC beam is made from α_SiC powder, graphite powder, mixing additives and organic adhesive agent.The mixture body is extruded and then filled into crucible with silicon powder. Sinter in a vacuum heating furnace at 1600 ~1800° C, the melt silicon powder reacts to the silicon in the body, finally from β-Sic due to the heat of reaction.

    Reaction-sintered, silicon-infiltrated silicon carbide (SiSiC) components are produced by slip-casting or extruding a mixture of silicon carbide, carbonaceous material and other ingredients into the desired shape. The resulting green body is then fired in the presence of a high concentration of silicon metal. As the silicon diffuses through the body, it reacts with the carbonaceous material to form additional silicon carbide, sintering the silicon carbide structure and increasing the density. The remaining open porosity is then filled with the excess silicon. SiSiC has a MOR approximately 40% higher than NSiC and twice that of ReSiC. Its high strength and oxidation resistance make SiSiC the material of choice for most applications where the maximum temperature is below its 1350°C use limit.

    3. Application

    SiSic beams are used in various industrial furnaces, the desulphurization equipment, the large boiers and other machinery, and the ceramics, the machinery, the metallurgy, the electronic, the chemicals, the petroleum, the iron and steel industry and other fields.

    The main products of reaction bonded silicon carbide ceramics are: cross beams, rollers, coling air pipe,burner nozzles,thermocouple protecting tubes,temperature measuring parts, radiant tubes, desulfurization nozzles, crucible,batts, wear resistant lining materials,plates, seals, rings and special shaped structural parts.
